Own Events: From Ship Cabins to Craft Beer

With its own events, HMC offers a wide range – both for the broader public as well as for experts.

Insect burgers, trendy drinks, sustainable dishes, and networked kitchen technology are just some of the highlights of INTERNORGA 2019. With countless novelties and a diverse program, the leading exhibition with a rich tradition in the entire out-of-home market once again attracted around 96,000 visitors, who were able to let their eyes and stomachs get their fill at the booths of the 1,300 exhibitors from 25 countries, as well as explore new trends – for example in the Craft Beer Arena, at the Grill & BBQ Court, and the Vegetable Path, all of which were crowd magnets. The accompanying specialist congresses with 3,000 participants were also quickly sold out. The largest portion of total revenue last year was generated once again by the own events realized by Hamburg Messe und Congress. The largest individual event in the reporting year was INTERNORGA.

The year’s own events started off with the home², a two-day exhibition offering advice on and current trends in the fields of real estate, construction, and modernization, kicked off the own events of the year. The third iteration of the event was attended by 10,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors participated. The new exhibition areas for kitchen and bathroom design as well as “Tiny Houses” were particularly well received.

Alexandra Wachs, Head of Sales Services Trade Fairs and Exhibitions

“My personal highlight for 2019 was the immediate confirmation – which I received as part of conversations with exhibitors at our own events – of the added value for our customers thanks to the implementation of specific measures of the HMC digital strategy.”

The second edition of oohh! The Leisure Worlds of Hamburg Messe was also a success. REISEN HAMBURG, FOTOHAVEN HAMBURG, KREUZFAHRTWELT HAMBURG, CARAVANING HAMBURG, and RAD HAMBURG: the 77,000 visitors were treated to a total of five Leisure Worlds with a mix of experiences, information, and encounters. More than 350 lectures and workshops were held over the five-day event. The bottom line was that experience and active vacations are in, along with trips on four wheels and cruises – and electromobility is once again gaining momentum.
There were also plenty of good vibes among the visitors and exhibitors at HAMBURG ancora YACHTFESTIVAL at the five-star ancora Marina in Neustadt, Holstein, where manufacturers and dealers presented a wide range of boats on the piers and docks. It was also a full house for the technical lectures of the water sport professionals and in the 100 pagodas where visitors could test and buy maritime equipment and accessories.
MARINE INTERIORS Cruise & Ferry Global Expo, powered by SMM, a trade fair for the interiors of passenger ships, celebrated its debut from September 11 to 13, 2019, and therapie Hamburg followed six weeks later in October 2019. You can find information about more events here.
