International Events: Hamburg, Mumbai, Tokyo

In the reporting year, the International Events division of HMC accompanied 468 German exhibitors to 12 countries.

Blossoming flowers, a two-story pavilion with facades covered in greenery and the rounded shape of a leaf, an informative exhibit on natural raw materials as a basis for a bio-based economy, and trends like urban gardening, all accompanied by a square with a restaurant, beer garden, and a playground for children: the German Garden was a crowd favorite at the International Horticultural Exhibition, which took place from April 29 to October 7, 2019, in the Yanqing district of Beijing. So it was all the more pleasing that the German contribution to the gardening expo, with the motto “Seeding the future,” was honored with a Grand Award for International Outdoor Garden. The German contribution at the gardening expo was organized and supported by a team from the International Events division of HMC on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). This marks the sixth time that Hamburg Messe und Congress took part in such an expo.

Vincent Spitzmann, Manager International Trade Fairs and Exhibitions

“I have a very eventful year behind me, with seven events in five sectors across three continents. The year 2019 also marked the end of my first decade at HMC, with the highlight being Marintec China in Shanghai, where I accompanied nearly 100 German companies spread around 1,800 square meters.“

INMEX SMM India, Top Event of the Maritime Sector

In the fall of 2019, the International Events division also made its way to India, where – together with Informa Exhibitions – HMC held South Asia’s largest and most important maritime exhibition and accompanying conference for the third time. INMEX SMM India – the “little” sister event of the SMM – was realized in Mumbai at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from October 3 to 5, 2019. Around 250 exhibitors from 22 countries and more than 6,800 trade visitors made this exhibition a top event of the maritime sector that offers the entire spectrum of maritime technologies and services. The exhibition therefore again offered a perfect platform for entering the South Asian market and for expanding existing business relationships in the region. The next edition of INMEX SMM India is scheduled to take place from October 11 to 13, 2021. inmex-smm-india.com
